Lugana wines

Situated in the heart of the prestigious Lugana area, Cà Maiol has been enhancing this region for generations, putting its expertise and passion into cultivating the Turbiana grape variety, also known as Trebbiano di Lugana. Let’s look at the different expressions of Lugana from Cà Maiol.

Lugana wines from Cà Maiol

With its mild, moderate climate and limestone and clay soil, the Lugana area offers an ideal terroir for growing the Turbiana grape. The grapes ripen slowly here, developing complex aromas and a distinctive minerality.

Despite maintaining strong links with tradition, Cà Maiol has innovated over time, adopting cutting-edge winemaking techniques to leverage the full potential of the Turbiana grape, exalting its unique characteristics and creating elegant wines with excellent ageing potential.

Prestige

The Lugana Prestige from Cà Maiol embodies the essence of a unique region: clay-rich soil, a mild microclimate bathed by Lake Garda and the noble grape variety Turbiana, which offers strikingly distinctive white grapes.

The grapes used for production of the Prestige are rigorously selected from the Turbiana vineyards in the Maiolo Winery, the heart of the Cà Maiol farm. This is where fine grapes produce a fresh and delicate white wine with a full flavour thanks to the Cà Maiol method: vibration of the clusters, gentle destemming and falling into the press through gravity, and delicate pressing. After fermenting and resting on the lees in stainless steel for a few months, the wine is bottled and marketed the spring after the harvest.

In the glass, the wine is a bright lemon yellow hue with straw-coloured reflections. The nose features citrusy aromas of lemon, citron and tropical notes. When opened, it offers aromas of white pepper and medicinal herbs. It is fresh, vibrant and dynamic on the palate, with perfectly balanced components and a pleasantly full finish.

Molin

The Lugana Superiore Molin is made from the Turbiana grapes in the Molin vineyard, located in the Desenzano del Garda municipality (Brescia). This wine achieves the perfect blend of fine aromas and elegant flavours, resulting from respect for the grape variety and appreciation for this region, rich in stratified clay of glacial origin, mainly limestone and mineral salts.

Carefully produced in Cà Maiol’s new winery, the vertical expression of the Lugana DOC Superiore Molin sets it apart. The grapes are cooled to 10°C and are destemmed before undergoing soft pressing. They are then aged in stainless steel for 9 months on suspended lees and aged in bottles for a minimum of 6 months.

Sùere

Sùere is the winery’s most conceptual wine, embodying balance and intensity, combining freshness and structure in a single, enveloping sip. Like a stone creating waves in the lake, this wine conveys the harmonies of the terroir: from floral and citrus scents to the minerality typical of marls. Its lively energy blends with a savory and persistent structure, delivering a taste experience that evolves with each sip. Lemongrass and verbena nuances emerge delicately, evoking an elegant oriental appeal. Sùere is the perfect choice for those seeking an intense white, capable of celebrating the identity of Garda.

Cantariva

The Cantariva Brut Lugana Metodo Classico is the pinnacle of Cà Maiol’s sparkling wine experience. It is produced from a meticulous selection of Turbiana grapes harvested early to achieve a richly acidic must, a key element to give the wine freshness and fragrance.

Produced using the Metodo Classico, the Cantariva Brut Lugana is only a vintage in the best growing years, fully leveraging the unique characteristics of each harvest. Its long period of resting on the lees – at least 40 months – enhances the distinctive “crust of bread” aroma, giving the wine complexity and harmony.

It is then aged for at least 3 months with the “liqueur d’expédition”, or dosage (the secret recipe dates back to 1990). The Cantariva Brut Lugana Metodo Classico has already become a classic in the region, and is a must for a toast during an aperitif thanks to its fine, original aroma.
