The grapes for the Lugana Riserva come from a selection of the oldest vines from the estate’s various vineyards, which are harvested by hand and with very low yields. Vinification and ageing take place partly in French oak barriques and tonneaux and partly over a year in steel tanks, to which at least 6 months of bottle ageing must be added. This is a wine of limited production, result of many years of experience aimed at enhancing the full potential of Lugana by offering wines of great structure, concentration and evolving capacity.
A morning breeze
- A deep straw yellow with golden highlights
At the sight
A deep straw yellow with golden highlights
On the nose
Great complexity and breadth in its aromas – citron, yellow melon, and faintly spicy hints of cumin and ginger. Its evolution in the glass offers suggestions of pearl barley, yellow peaches and lavender
On the palate
Mellow and mouth-filling in texture, like an embrace; its freshness and tanginess make it lively and juicy on the palate, with suggestions of yellow-fleshed fruit, sweet spices and saffron
Point of arrival and point of departure together, Lugana Riserva is the most conceptual of Cà Maiol’s white range. Like a stone thrown into the lake forms concentric circles around itself that stretch back to the shore, this wine releases harmonies that amplify until they return to the origin of everything, the fullness of the clays combined with the minerality of the marls, the sunshine of the fruit combined with the lashing freshness of the Garda winds. A gold-colored Lugana, capable of evolving with the passage of time, a testimony to the union of the hand of man with the best expression of the grapes of the territory.
